Crandor

Welcome to the island of Crandor, where quests, battle, and adventure await. On this small spit of sand in the middle of a giant ocean, you will find training and mining much easier than anywhere else. Accessible only by a passage way under the vast ocean from Karamja, Crandor awaits!

The tour begins at this passage way between Karamja and Crandor deep under sea. As soon as you step through, you are greeted by a roaring, fire-breathing demon, which is the best welcome wagon you're getting on this island. These lesser demons are lesser, but still pretty big. Fight the blighters to get awesome rewards such as rune mediums, but it's not an easy battle.

Continuing onward through the cave, we find a room full of the skinniest fellahs in RuneScape: Large skeletons. Though none can be seen on their slim figures, their level 45 muscle will rip you to shreds. But its what they guard that really reeks of danger.

Elvarg! Rawr, a dragon. This green beast puts the "dragon" in "Dragon Slayer". Really. You have to defeat him to take the title Dragon Slayer. Not much taller than the lesser demon, but looks can be deceiving. His level 83 might has defeated many an adventurer. Good thing there's a layer of stone between me and him.

Passing past Elvarg's lair, we find another army of skeletons, this time not so strong. They're guarding the rope to daylight, a welcomed thing in this cave of death. Let's climb it.

Ah, fresh air! Take a moment before continuing to soak in the beautiful greenery and scenery of this tropical wonderland. Coming out of the bunker of dirt and darkness and into the bright world of adventure, one feels reborn.

A couple more lesser demons block our road to freedom. This is also a nice training spot, where one can fight old-fashioned, displayed on the left side, or harness the magical powers of the gods to bring down the foe.

Before passing the lessers into the rest of the island, I decided to mount the hill above the entrance cave. Here we see a preview of what else is on the island: moss giants, rocks to mine, and plenty of trees. This is a nice view, really.

Descending the mountain of Crandor, I almost loose my footing and stumble down the hill here. This cliff marks the start of a spiral-like path that wraps around the central mountain of Karamja. Don?t slip!

Ah! The first sign of somewhat-not-dangerous life! A good old hobgoblin, ready for battle, as always. They're a bit smelly, but make great training creatures. Let's see what else is on the island.

Our first mine, a giant coal mine with a mithril rock at the tip, which I decided to have a go at. In the shade of a few tropical trees, this mine makes an excellent place to obtain one of the most valued ores in RuneScape.

Moving past the coal mine, we come across an army of large scorpions. These stinging little buggers will attack low-leveled visitors and usually win, especially if you're up against their king. These guys seem to like hanging around mines, as seen here, in Al Kharid, and the Dwarven mines of Asgarnia.

And here's what they're guarding: three rocks of precious gold. Crandor Island is full of precious metals such as these. This is the perfect place to get a load of it, too, as no one else is around.

On my way to yet another mine, I decided to snap a photo of the mountainous terrain here on Crandor. Places like these are perfect for 100% energy, as twists and turns take a long time to navigate.

Here we have the mithril mine, quite uninhabited, as usual. These seven rocks can be sold for cash, or smelted into a semi-strong bar of metal. I always liked mining by the waterside.

On the way to the final mine, I came across a band of skeletons patrolling a nice section of Crandorian waterfront property. I call it the Skeleton Beach, and it's a nice little area with trees for shade and a nice training area.

The last mine, the adamant mine! Only skilled miners actually mine the rocks here, but there're a few coal rocks for you lower-leveled miners as well. And for the warriors out there, a couple moss giants make excellent targets. Mid-leveled, mid to high-dropping, these are ideal for raising the ol' defense level, or maybe leveling up in ranging. These moss-garbed big guys are unique creations of Saradomin.

I thought this might be a good time to point out the wide variety of plant life that grows on Crandor. From wide to thin leaves, leafy to bare, always expect a new plant looming around another corner of the mountain.

Traveling down to another corner of Crandor, this one will bring back memories for all you quest veterans out there. The ship that discovered the island, the Lady Lumbridge. Not so ship-shape now, as Cabin Boy Jenkins kindly points out, this wreck will leave future Crandorian excavators puzzled. Drop a line to Ned, her old captain, while you're here.

Just another view of the Lumbridge. She's a beauty from this angle, alright.

Unfortunately, this is where the tour stops. After seeing countless mines, many enemies, and awesome views, Crandor has proved itself to be one of the most unique places of RuneScape. Absolutely no sign of human civilization except Ned and the gang. Crandor really is an awesome jungle in the sea.
